If you're travelling to the French Alps this season with non-skiers or if you're looking for something new to try this season, then here's our list of the top alternatives to skiing to tick off your bucket list! If you do take part in any of these activities, we'd love to see - tag us on Instagram.
Motoneige
Snowmobiling is a great activity for non-skiers looking for an adrenaline hit!
One ski resort which offers this exciting apres-ski activity is Flaine. With routes passing through the beautiful scenery of the Grand Massif and including pistes and forest. Located just outside the main ski resort, Deltaevasion offers guided excursions for beginners and more challenging routes for experts. The Motoneige routes are open after the pistes have closed for the day and allow for thrill-seekers to witness the day's sunset too! There is even the option to enjoy an evening in a tipi with fondue or have a Savoyard dinner in a traditional mountain restaurant after the outing...
Snowkiting and Paragliding
Snowkiting is being gently glided on your skis or snowboard, pulled by a power-kite. You only need a tiny bit of wind to start sliding, and get the amazing feeling of skiing with the wind! Snowkiting School in La Rosière offer sessions and claim that "if you know how to ski or snowboard down a red slope, then you can learn how to snowkite."
Paragliding is another popular winter activity in the Alps! Méribel is one of the resorts on our programme which offers this unforgettable experience. Witness the birdseye views of the 3 Valleys as you soar across the ski area on a tandem paragliding ride!
Ice diving
A chance to mix adrenaline with peace... not for the faint-hearted! Tignes is one of the resorts offering ice diving in the nearby frozen lake. Sessions are run for various abilities by Evolution 2. Look at this...
Ski joëring
Ski joëring is a great, fun way to discover the beauty of the mountains (without any effort!). The horses are very calm-natured so this activity is one which is suitable for all the family.
Les Arcs is one of the resorts offering ski joëring at Ranch El Colorado.

Courchevel Moriond, a perfect location for a luxurious stay over winter and offering a number of winter activities for non-skiers. The racing track for sledding is a great choice for all - 3km long with tunnels, turns and rapid straights! The track is open to most ages (from 8 years old) everyday from 12pm-4:00pm, with floodlit track on selected late evenings!
Snowshoeing
Snowshoeing is a great activity to make the most of the mountainside, the scenery and the spectacular views.
It's available in most ski resorts, but in Tignes le Lac the activity is combined with dinner in a yurt followed by a return journey to the village by luge!
