Skiing at Christmas is a great way to enjoy the festive period! Not only can you spend the week on the slopes but you can get into the spirit with a guaranteed white Christmas, enjoy a turkey dinner in your self-catered apartment (or a fondue if you’d prefer!) and take part in many other winter activities such as dog sledging, outdoor ice skating, snowshoeing and even skidoo.

Samoëns
Samoëns is a family favourite offering great skiing for all levels in the extensive Grand Massif ski area. It is an ideal resort in which to spend your Christmas skiing holiday, with a traditional village feel and pretty village centre it has plenty of Christmas charm. The Samoëns Christmas village is open in December with a Christmas market, waffles, hot wine and of course Father Christmas. As well as the usual winter activities, there is a fireworks display on Christmas Eve.
We recommend: Staying in 4* Luxury La Reine des Pres! It's located between the village centre and ski lifts so you can have the best of both worlds.
Megeve
Megeve is one of the chicest resorts in the French Alps and one of the best for non-skiers. Although purpose-built, it is an enchanting town in a beautiful setting complete with narrow cobbled streets, horse-drawn sleighs, a weekly market an open ice rink as well as plenty of designer shops! The highlight of the Christmas activities taking part in Megeve is the Swarovski Christmas Tree! The 30ft tree covered in Swarovski crystals is illuminated in December and stays up for pretty much the whole season.
We recommend: Spending the week in Portes de Megeve, a high-quality residence with a shuttle bus taking you straight to the slopes.
La Rosière
A Peak Retreats favourite, La Rosière is another great choice for Christmas in the snow. La Rosière is the only Savoyard resort to offer an international ski area sharing Espace San Bernardo with Italy. As well as a fantastic family atmosphere and friendly ambience, La Rosière hosts 'Christmas magic week' in December making it the perfect place to ski at Christmas.
We recommend: 4* Luxury Les Cimes Blanches as a great place to stay. It's close to the ski slopes and only 900m from the resort centre!
