Make your summer holiday memorable by taking part in some truly unique experiences and activities in the French Alps during the summer months. There’s plenty to do throughout the summer months, and here’s a few that have made it on to our must do list:
THE NIGHT OF LANES
The Nocturne des Ruelles ‘The Night of Lanes’ returns to Bourg Saint Maurice on the 9th August. The friendly French town turns into an urban obstacle race ground! Teams of two have one hour to complete the course as many times as they can. Bourg Saint Maurice is planning an ultra-festival atmosphere so whether you enter or just spectate, it’s going to be fun.
Top tip: There is also a half-hour course for children, so your MTB loving kids can get involved too!
STEP INTO THE VOID
The Aiguille du Midi Skywalk, "Step into the Void" is a glass room with a glass floor, over a 1000m precipice found at the top of the Aiguille du Midi at an altitude of 3842 metres. From the centre of Chamonix, it’s just a 20-minute ride in the cable car, where you’ll also find a cafe and restaurant. Not for the faint-hearted!
Top tip: Don’t miss the gondola lift ride over the Glacier du Géant to the Pointe Helbronner in Italy. It’s open from June to September.
JOIN THE LLAMAS!
Enjoy a walk in the beautiful mountains surrounding Valloire accompanied by a mountain guide and some lovely llamas! The children will love this as they’ll be able to lead the llamas! Walks can be tailored to suit all ages and abilities, so no excuse not to get involved.
Top tip: Wear good walking shoes and don't forget your suncream!
WALK ON THE WATER!
This is a super fun, pocket-friendly activity for the whole family – yes, adults, you can do this too! Head to Tignes and get on the water in a giant ball, and have races and 'battles' with your friends and family! Feel the sensation of walking on water – max of fun guaranteed!
Top tip: While in the area, have a go at Acroland on the shores of Tignes lake – it’s ‘flipping’ awesome! Don't forget your My Tignes card!
