Situated in Isère in the French Alps, Les 2 Alpes is known for its snow sure conditions, encompassing high altitude skiing up to 3600m, 75% of the ski area above 2100m (accommodating all levels of skiers) and a skiable glacier. In fact 80% of visitors come for the skiing.
But it’s also known for its friendly, welcoming atmosphere, lively apres-ski and variety of non skiing activities.
You may have thought it couldn’t get any better than that! In this blog, we'll cover what has got everyone talking...
Latest developments in Les 2 Alpes
Enter a €145 million investment into new developments to the ski area. These improvements have been designed to meet the needs of modern skiers, make the ski area even more accessible to beginners, and improve sustainability.
Here are just some of the developments that have taken place recently...
New Jandri 3S gondola
New for winter 24/25, the old Jandri express gondola has been replaced by the 3S gondola. This gondola uses advanced technology incorporating two support cables and one haul cable which offers improved stability and wind resistance.
It also means a trip up to 3200m in just 17 minutes compared to the previous 40 minutes. This has improved the flow of people up the mountain from 1,700 to 3,000 people per hour, making the glacier even more accessible for all levels of skier.
The technology used in this gondola allows for a silent, high-performance lift. It has just 7 pylons instead of the previous 17 which has less of an impact on the environment as well as requiring less maintenance, and lower energy requirements.
The gondola is to be open throughout both the winter and summer seasons and offers enhanced accessibility including to skiers, pedestrians, mountain bikers, runners and people with reduced mobility.
New Super Venosc gondola
This 10-seater gondola opened in the winter 23/24 season and allows skiers and pedestrians to access the Vallée Blanche - Pied Moutet sector at 2100m in just 5 minutes from the Clarines sector. It opened up more of the ski area to all levels of skiers.
New Vallée Blanche green run
This piste is an easy green run in the Vallée Blanche area which offers better accessibility to all within the lower altitude area (1600m to 2100m).
New learning zones
The lower slopes embarked on a major redevelopment project in 2022 and was completed for the winter 2024/25 season. This includes a new user-friendly magic carpet in the Coolidge area, replacing 2 old button lifts plus a new Orée des Pistes button lift to replace the old one and a new button lift in the Champamé area of the resort.
These developments have made the foot of the slopes across the resort more accessible to beginners.
New Belle Étoile Télémix cable car
This new cable car opened in December 2023, replacing the Eoufs Blancs gondola and gives skiers and pedestrians access to the Crêtes sector at 2100m from the northern Champamé sector. It comprises a modern 10-seater cabin with a 6-seater detachable chairlift and doubles passenger flow, taking up to 3,000 people per hour.

There is also an ice cave, taking you 30 metres under the glacier and into a world of beautifully carved ice sculptures from thousand-year-old ice.

The 2-hour experience ends with a gourmet breakfast.
4. An afternoon with snow groomer drivers
Snow groomer drivers work tirelessly to maintain the pistes and ensure the best possible conditions for skiers and snowboarders each and every day during the ski season. Enter their world and hear about what it’s like to drive up and down even the steepest of slopes and working at the dead of night.
