Le Tour de France and L'Etape du Tour 2019
The mountain stages of this year's Tour de France and l'Etape du Tour (the race for amateur cyclists wanting to take on the course) pass through St Martin de Belleville en route to Europe's highest ski resort, Val Thorens.
Want to see the Tour de France or l'Etape du Tour? Find the best places to stay in Val Thorens, where you won't miss out on the action!.
Stage 20 starts in Albertville on 27th July 2019 and takes the riders to Val Thorens with a summit finish in the resort (2,365m). The long 33.4km climb to Val Thorens is scarcely used, and we've heard this will hurt riders more with its length than any savage gradient. Two climbs come beforehand, however, with the Cormet de Roselend opening the stage before the Côte de Longfoy.
Those taking part in l'Etape du Tour do the same gruelling route the week before on 21st July 2019. Find out more about this year's Tour.
