Family Friendly
We’ve chosen all our resorts with families in mind, and the below certainly isn't a definitive list of family-friendly ski destinations. Resorts labelled Famille Plus, like most of these below, have earned recognition from the French Ministry of Tourism for improving resort services and facilities for families.
La Rosière has well-suited terrain, some fun themed slopes and well-designed village base, plus family-friendly après from ice hockey matches to piste basher garage visits. Sainte Foy’s funnel shaped ski area means that all slopes return to the family-friendly resort centre. The resorts ‘nature ski’ areas are designed for children and adults to learn about skiing in nature and the animals that inhabit the mountains. Val Cenis lays claim to Europe’s longest green run, this 10km slope is great for children to build their confidence. Tignes 1800 has a brilliant beginners’ area and the ski area has some well-marked safe areas to progress on to. Les Gets is perennially popular with families, from its friendly village to its dedicated sledging slopes and mini-boardercross area. Les Saisies has magical elf-themed play areas and slopes as well as a mountain coaster for après with added adrenaline! In Le Grand Bornand, as well as plenty of family friendly slopes, children can try their hands at building a real igloo! For families with slightly older children, we love Montgenèvre. It's a safe size and easy to navigate. The Gondrans sector has a choice of blue and red runs including a snow park, that allow teens a bit of independence and there's a handy café to meet up in where the runs finish. Valmorel’s car-free, compact village centre, along with its convenient, easily accessible slopes, and great value skiing, explain why it has previously won Best Family Ski Resort at the World Snow Awards.Â
